Champasak (Laos)

8 April 2011:
Champasak is a small town on the Mekong river, South of Laos. The village consists of a numbered local houses used as guesthouses for the tourists visiting the Wat Phu Temple ruins. This Temple, now Unesco Heritage used to be the seat of the Kingdom of Champasak dating back to the 5th century.

As usual cycling the 10km to the Temple.

The Wat Pu entrance, the Temple is situated at the top of the Mont Phu Kao.

The Buddha foot print. It was shown on the map but we had to play Indiana Jones to find it 1h later :-)

Same with the Elephant rock, the site was huge and everything was hidden, most of the people from our guesthouse didn't find them :-)

Cycling around...

The kids in Laos were always running towards us and greeting us with the usual "Helloooo, what's your name?"
