The Si Phan Don, means 4 000 islands in Laos, is a region where the Mekong river just above the Cambodian border is broken by the Khone Falls, a large number of waterfalls creating 4 000 islands. Only a few are inhabited, we stayed on one of them called Don Khone.
Khone waterfalls.
The 1st night we've been invited by our landlord to this local party on another island. There was a lot of drinking, singing and dancing.
This young girl was singing and the boy in front of her was replying with his own song. We didn't understand what was going on, maybe it was a ceremony.
Here again, we didn't really understand much, we've been invited in this room where our landlord performed a ritual, tied a white string to our wrists. said a few words and made us drink a shot of something (I think we just became Buddhist :-)

The following day we cycled around the island and we spotted some buffaloes having a bath.
We stopped at this small waterfall to cool down.
Late afternoon we did a little cruise around the islands.
We could see Cambodia.
Tom & Natasha, the french couple that we met in the island.
Little dip in the Mekong.
Last sunset in Laos.
Last breakfast in Laos :-(
On the way to Cambodia... for a new chapter!

Stupende, come sempre!
