Ayutthaya (Thailand)

15 March 2011:
Old capital of Thailand located 2 hours north of Bangkok. This city has been built on an island of land where the 3 rivers (Mae Nam Lopburi, Chao Phraya and Pa Sak) meet. The rivers formed a natural barrier which gave to the city a unique island status.
There are many historic sites containing ruins and temples which are recognized by Unesco World Heritage.

 Other side of the island.

"Wat Yai Chai Mongkon" this Temple is situated outside of the island.

Mourad is fascinated by monks. The ones in white are female.

This is all that remains of the Sandstone Buddha, the body has disappeared while the head is in the tree.

 "Wat Maha That" another Temple.

 Slow traffic.

 The Royal palace.

 A huge reclining Buddha.

 "Wat Chaiwatthanaram"

The French in me has come out.. I was so happy to find a baguette!!
